Anthropology and Human Right
Hi, today I will tell you a little about the anthropological work related with the violation of human right that happened in dictatorship. The birth of this discipline in the academic field in Chile dates back to the 60’s, however is in the 1973, with the dictatorship when this science was actually available to the community. In this period, anthropology contributed the different way depending of each speciality. For example, physical anthropology it was responsible to the identification of body of disappeared detainees; archaeology work in the conservation of memory spaces, like Londres 38; and social anthropology helps to the recognition of human rights violations. This way, anthropology has contributed in the search for justice, and has been a support to the families of disappeared detainees. Anyway, this not the end of the work, the anthropologist should not rest until the last family has peace and tranquillity, after everything they have suffered.
